Job summary

House Springs Animal Clinic in Missouri is seeking a full-time Veterinary Technician to join our experienced, compassionate team. We’re a two-doctor, small-animal practice serving Jefferson County for more than 47 years, offering in-house labs, digital radiography, patient monitoring, and modern surgical capabilities.

We welcome credentialed technicians or experienced assistants who thrive in a fast-paced setting and are eager to learn.

Qualifications

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician preferred; experienced aides welcome.
  • Comfort in a fast-paced clinical environment.
  • Strong client care and communication experience.
  • Experience with anesthesia monitoring and veterinary procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories and vital signs.
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments and procedures.
  • Provide nursing care from intake through discharge and administer medications.
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy and sample collection.
  • Obtain radiographs and conduct in-house laboratory testing (CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, etc.).
  • Support surgical and dental procedures, monitor anesthesia and maintain records.
  • Educate clients on care, medications and preventive treatment.
  • Maintain accurate medical records and clean treatment areas.

What You’ll Do

  • Triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories, vital signs, and patient assessments
  • Assist veterinarians during examinations, treatments, and procedures
  • Provide compassionate, high‑quality nursing care from intake through discharge
  • Prepare and administer medications, vaccines, and treatments as directed
  • Perform venipuncture, IV catheter placement, fluid therapy, and diagnostic sample collection
  • Obtain high‑quality radiographs while maintaining appropriate imaging standards
  • Perform in‑house laboratory testing, including CBC/chemistry, urinalysis, cytology, fecal testing, and more
  • Support surgical and dental procedures, including preparation, monitoring, recovery, and instrument care
  • Monitor anesthesia and patient vital signs during procedures and maintain accurate records
  • Provide patient monitoring and supportive care, including TPRs, pain scoring, wound care, and recovery support
  • Use Fear Free and low‑stress handling techniques to help keep patients safe and comfortable
  • Educate clients about patient care, medications, discharge instructions, and preventive care
  • Maintain accurate medical records and patient charts
  • Document patient care and treatments clearly and efficiently
  • Maintain clean, organized, and well‑stocked treatment and exam areas
  • Follow established infection‑control protocols
  • Collaborate with the team to maintain an efficient workflow and positive hospital culture
  • Participate in ongoing training and professional growth opportunities

What You’ll Bring

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT/LVT/RVT) preferred
  • Experienced veterinary assistant/technician candidates are welcome

  • Strong technical skills in venipuncture, phlebotomy, sample collection, and laboratory procedures
  • Experience with radiology, diagnostics, and basic imaging techniques
  • Understanding of pharmacology and medication administration
  • Experience assisting with surgery and providing patient nursing care
  • Ability to accurately triage patients and obtain thorough medical histories
  • Commitment to low‑stress or Fear Free patient handling techniques
  • Clear, professional, and compassionate communication with clients and teammates
  • Strong attention to detail and accurate medical documentation skills
