Metro Guard New York (Five Star Security Solutions) Location: New York City, NY (covering all NYC boroughs, including Brooklyn) Salary: Upwards From $70,000 per annum, dependent on evidenced experience.

Hours: 40 hours per week, including a minimum of 10 hours per week at a night-time venue Benefits: Company laptop, mobile phone, business expenses allowance, performance-related bonuses for seasonal events and additional scheduling uplifts

As our portfolio continues to grow, we are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Security Operations Manager to become a key representative of our business in New York. The successful candidate will receive regular operational support from both our UK senior management team and our US-based business owner, whilst enjoying the autonomy to manage their own workload and drive operational success.

There will be future opportunities to travel outside New York to support and oversee contracts across our growing client base.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced Security Operations Manager to oversee and support our unarmed manned guarding operations across New York City.

This is a hands-on operational management role requiring strong leadership, excellent organisational skills, and the ability to manage multiple client sites, officers, schedules, and operational priorities simultaneously.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all contracts are fully resourced, compliant, and operating in line with both client expectations and Metro Guard New York standards.

Key Responsibilities
Operations & Resource Management
  • Manage all day-to-day security operations across assigned contracts throughout New York City.
  • Produce, maintain, and manage officer rosters and deployment schedules.
  • Ensure all staffing requirements are covered through effective workforce planning and dynamic shift management.
  • Fill operational scheduling gaps and arrange emergency cover where required.
  • Monitor staffing levels to ensure contractual obligations are met at all times.
  • Balance budgeted hours against worked hours, ensuring operational efficiency and profitability.
  • Conduct regular site audits and welfare visits.
Workforce Management
  • Lead, motivate, develop, and support security officers across multiple locations.
  • Deliver training, coaching, and performance management in line with company standards.
  • Conduct disciplinary and performance management processes where required.
  • Ensure officers meet both client expectations and Metro Guard New York's professional standards.
  • Manage guard deployment, attendance, appearance, conduct, and performance.
Recruitment & Vetting
  • Arrange and conduct interviews for prospective security officers.
  • Assess candidate suitability for deployment across multiple client environments.
  • Collect, review, and manage all required vetting and compliance documentation.
  • Assist with onboarding and induction processes.
Compliance & Licensing
  • Ensure all officers meet applicable New York State licensing and training requirements.
  • Maintain compliance with venue-specific licensing and certification requirements, including S95 Fire Guard certifications where applicable.
  • Ensure all contracts operate in accordance with company procedures and client requirements.
  • Monitor licence expiry dates and ensure compliance is reflected within weekly scheduling plans.
Client Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing clients.
  • Conduct regular client meetings and operational reviews.
  • Respond professionally to customer concerns and service requests.
  • Identify opportunities to organically grow existing contracts and services.
  • Support contract retention and business development activities.
Business Development
  • Leverage existing industry contacts and professional networks to identify new business opportunities.
  • Work closely with senior management to support growth initiatives.
  • Assist in preparing proposals and operational solutions for new contracts.
  • Act as a professional ambassador for the Metro Guard New York brand.
Administration & Reporting
  • Manage timesheets, payroll submissions, and attendance records.
  • Produce operational reports and performance updates.
  • Investigate incidents and submit accurate documentation.
  • Maintain computer-based scheduling, reporting, and workforce management systems.
  • Track labour costs and ensure schedules remain within agreed budgets.
Applicants must demonstrate:

  • Experience managing hours worked against budgeted contract hours.
  • Knowledge of New York security licensing requirements and compliance obligations.
  • Ability to work independently and confidently manage priorities with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
