Critical Care Units (ICUs)

Our ICUs across nine hospital campuses provide care through a multidisciplinary, patient-centered approach. Clinical excellence and patient safety are our priorities. The Registered Nurse in the ICU provides high-level care, assessment, and team coordination for critically ill patients across their lifespan.

Shift Details

Positions may be available on various shifts, including weekend options and per diem. Full-time positions are 36 or 40 hours per week; part-time less than 36 hours; per diem requires a minimum of 2 shifts/month. All candidates must complete initial classroom orientation followed by unit orientation.

Job Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care to critically ill patients, utilizing the nursing process for assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, evaluation, and documentation.
• Collaborate with ancillary, nursing, and other healthcare team members to uphold professional standards.
• Maintain confidentiality and proper release of information.
• Demonstrate and model the Network’s Service Excellence Standards of Performance.
• Follow policies regarding attendance and dress code.
• Assess, treat, and communicate appropriately with patients of all ages.

Training and Experience

Minimum of one year of critical care nursing experience required. An individualized orientation program is provided. Current BLS certification is mandatory. Nurses with less than 1 year of experience are encouraged to visit our internship page: https://www.slhn.org/nursing-opportunities

Education

Current Registered Nurse license in Pennsylvania or New Jersey (Warren Campus).

Physical and Sensory Requirements

Must be able to sit up to 2 hours, stand for up to 10 hours, walk for 6 hours, and lift objects up to 75 lbs occasionally. Ability to transport patients weighing up to 500 lbs and perceive attributes through touch, hearing, and vision is required.
