Hyatt Regency Houston-Downtown in Houston, TX is seeking an Executive Steward to lead the stewarding department, ensure sanitation standards, and support culinary operations. This role emphasizes hands-on leadership, staff development, and cross-department coordination to deliver exceptional guest service.

Qualifications

• Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly preferred.
• Self-starting personality with a calm and even temperament.
• Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor at all times.
• Willingness to assist co-workers and collaborate effectively as part of a team.
• Ability to withstand prolonged periods of standing and/or walking, and lift at least 50 lbs.
• Two (2) years previous experience in a similar role within a hospitality or food & beverage setting is required.
• Strong leadership and team management abilities.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
• Understanding of sanitation standards and safety regulations.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively under pressure.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operations of the stewarding department across kitchens, outlets, receiving and storage areas, employee dining, and banquet support, prioritizing assignments and service levels in accordance with Hyatt standards and property procedures.
• Remain hands-on when needed by assisting with dishwashing, cleaning, transporting, setup, breakdown, and other stewarding duties during peak periods, staffing gaps, and special events.
• Organize the logistics for banquet events and functions using BEOs/event orders and distribution plans.
• Coordinate the timely delivery, setup, replenishment, breakdown, and return of serviceware with the Banquets, Culinary, and Events teams.
• Maintain the highest standards of cleanliness, sanitation, and organization in all food production, service, stewarding, and storage areas, supporting Hyatt food-safety and sanitation requirements.
• Recruit, train, schedule, coach, and supervise stewarding colleagues.
• Establish and maintain par levels for china, glassware, silverware, cookware, cleaning chemicals, and operating supplies.
• Inspect, operate, clean, and maintain dishwashing systems, kitchen equipment, smallwares, and stewarding tools; coordinate repairs as needed.
• Communicate operational needs and event requirements with Culinary, Food & Beverage, Banquets, Purchasing, Receiving, Engineering, and other hotel departments.
