Job summary

Sterling St James Inc. is seeking a hands-on Human Resources Manager to join the executive leadership team. The role partners with the CEO/President and plant leadership in a 24/7 unionized manufacturing environment to shape people strategy and culture across the organization.

This position emphasizes being visible on the floor and at the table, balancing strategic leadership with day-to-day HR operations, and driving labor relations, workforce planning, and employee development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or closely related field.
• PHR or SPHR certification is a plus.
• 10+ years of progressive Human Resources experience, including at least 3 years in an HR management role.
• Experience in a unionized manufacturing environment, including CBA administration and labor negotiations.

Responsibilities

• Serve as a strategic member of executive leadership and production planning teams.
• Build labor-management relationships and support collective bargaining and grievance procedures.
• Lead recruiting, onboarding, workforce planning, and succession initiatives.
• Oversee benefits programs including healthcare, retirement, and disability.
• Act as Plan Administrator for 401(k) and Assistant Corporate Secretary.
• Ensure policies are applied consistently and foster a positive workplace culture.
• Develop HR policies and drive process improvements and HRIS initiatives.
