Job summary

Dow Jones Energy seeks an Executive Director - Head of Specialty Chemical Markets Research & Analysis to lead a global market research program in specialty chemicals and hydrocarbons. You will report to the VP of Research and guide research strategy across key chemical segments.

You will manage a senior team, develop market forecasts, and coordinate with sales, media opportunities, and client engagements to deliver timely insights.

Qualifications

• 15+ years’ chemical industry experience in oxo alcohols, plasticizers or soda ash.
• Experience managing 10+ direct reports and mentoring senior staff.
• Ability to identify core issues in complex problems and deliver insights.
• Experience managing ambiguity with minimal direction.
• Strong Excel, VBA scripting; proficient with PowerBI/Spotfire/Tableau.

Responsibilities

• Direct primary research on global specialty chemicals markets.
• Lead development of research on solvents, base oils, and alpha olefins.
• Oversee price forecasting and communicate forecast messages.
• Build industry relationships with producers, traders, and financial community.
• Collaborate with sales to identify new business opportunities.
• Advise content leaders on topics for weekly/monthly reports.
