News Corporation's Dow Jones Energy unit seeks an Executive Director for Intermediate Chemicals Market Research & Analysis to lead global research and forecasting across acrylonitrile, oxides, styrenics, glycols, synthetic fibers, chlor-alkali and vinyls. You will supervise a multi-disciplinary team of senior experts and collaborate with sales on new engagements.

Qualifications

  • 15+ years' chemical industry experience in acrylonitrile, oxides, styrenics, glycols, synthetic fibers, chlor-alkali or vinyls.
  • Experience managing 10+ direct reports and mentoring senior staff.
  • Ability to identify core issues in complex problems and deliver insights.
  • Experience managing ambiguity with minimal direction.
  • Strong MS Office suite; PowerBI, Spotfire and Tableau skills.
  • Advanced Excel with VBA; Python knowledge is a plus.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.
  • Chemical engineering, chemistry, business or economics degree, or equivalent work experience.

Responsibilities

  • Direct primary research focused on global market coverage of intermediate chemicals; acrylonitrile, oxides, styrenics, glycols, synthetic fibers, chlor-alkali and vinyls.
  • Liaise between Dow Jones Energy and external suppliers.
  • Oversee price forecasting process and communicate forecast messages internally and externally.
  • Establish and maintain a reputation for intermediate chemicals coverage through events, engagements and client work.
  • Build and maintain industry contact relationships across producers, consumers, traders and the financial community.
  • Ensure the team follows Dow Jones Energy price discovery standards.
  • Collaborate with sales to identify new business opportunities for engagements.
  • Coordinate market content for consulting projects and client development.
  • Advise content leaders on research topics to improve weekly/monthly reports and analyses.
  • Develop market presentations and present at client meetings and conferences.
  • Actively market the portfolio of intermediate chemicals services.
  • Contribute to team dynamics to ensure global coverage and analysis.
  • Serve as a stakeholder for marquee value chain events.

Education

Chemistry/Engineering/Economics degree
Post-graduate data science (PhD/Master) in a technical field
