Job summary

San Joaquin Regional Transit District is seeking a Chief Operating Officer to lead the Operations Division and ensure safe, reliable public transportation for Stockton and surrounding areas.

Reporting to the CEO, the COO will direct Transportation, Maintenance, Facilities, Planning and On-demand services, ensuring performance, compliance, and strategic alignment with RTD's mission. Strong leadership, budget, and stakeholder skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in transportation, public or business administration or a closely related field.
• Ten years of progressively responsible administrative or management experience in the operation and maintenance of a public transit agency.
• A valid California Class C driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Provides executive-level operational oversight and direction to divisions and departments.
• Implements short- and long-term plans to achieve RTD's mission and goals.
• Plans and evaluates staff performance and development; enforces accountability.
• Directs RTD's transportation, maintenance, and facilities management functions.
