Job summary

Ascent Hospitality is seeking an Executive Chef in Birmingham, AL to lead culinary operations across a high-volume hotel restaurant. You will design innovative menus, mentor staff, and collaborate with hotel departments to meet financial goals.

The role requires a strong leader with a passion for service, excellent communication, and the ability to manage costs while upholding brand standards.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of kitchen experience in a high volume restaurant or hotel operation, including at least one sous chef position.
• Must obtain Food Handler's Certificate within 30 days of hire.
• Must obtain ServSafe certification within 30 days of hire.
• Must have excellent customer service skills.
• Must be able to lead and motivate a team.

Responsibilities

• Supervise preparation and presentation of all food items to Ascent Hospitality standards of excellence.
• Manage culinary staff: hire, schedule, train, develop, empower, coach, and counsel; coordinate with F&B Director.
• Maintain sanitation standards per brand and regulatory requirements across all F&B operations.
• Ensure equipment is well maintained and functional.
• Control food cost via inventory, purchasing, pricing, portioning and waste control.
• Monitor inventory to prevent spoilage; return reusable items to stock.
• Schedule kitchen staff per staffing guidelines and weekly forecasts.
• Enforce safety standards and report unsafe conditions.
• Review financial transactions and monitor budget with the Property F&B Director and GM.
