Job description

Role Overview

Sodexo is seeking an Executive Chef 2 to join our culinary team at Bristol Glen, a continuing care retirement community located in Newton, New Jersey. The Executive Chef will be accountable for food quality, menu development, sanitation, training, financial performance, and team leadership, ensuring a first-class dining experience for residents, guests, and staff. They will report to the General Manager and manage the culinary team of approximately 50 employees. The typical schedule is from 11:00 AM to 8:00 PM, which may vary with alternating weekend coverage.

What You'll Do
  1. Oversee the daily dining operations including menu planning and controls;
  2. Ensure Sodexo Culinary Standards including recipe compliance and food quality;
  3. Maintain high expectations for quality of food and presentation;
  4. Develop and train cooks.

What You Bring
  • Knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and workplace safety standards compliance;
  • Strong culinary background, ideally in retirement communities, country clubs, and/or restaurants;
  • Catering experience;
  • Ability to develop trust and build strong client relationships, meeting client and Sodexo expectations;
  • Experience supervising and mentoring a culinary team with exceptional management skills;
  • Exceptional professional communication skills;
  • Hands-on, innovative leadership approach;
  • Passion for high-level customer service and relationship orientation;
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities;
  • Strong financial acumen and experience managing a food service operations budget.

Qualifications & Requirements

Minimum Education Requirement - Associate's Degree or equivalent experience

Minimum Management Experience - 2 years

Minimum Functional Experience - 2 years work experience in food or culinary services, including restaurants, fast food, vending, catering services, institutional services, mall food courts, etc.
