This role focuses on overseeing food preparation and execution for catered events.

Job Summary

The Executive Chef 1 is a key management team member, serving as the top culinary leader for accounts with managed volumes between $1.51M and $3.5M annually. Responsibilities include managing food service operations, inventory, menu development, catering oversight, and culinary cost controls. The role involves staffing and developing culinary teams, overseeing kitchen operations to ensure exceptional culinary experiences, and maintaining standards for food service and presentation. The Executive Chef 1 also supervises team members, manages menu communications, training, and ensures smooth kitchen operations.

Essential Functions
Client, Customer, and Guest Relations
  • Develop relationships with clients to deliver personalized, high-quality culinary events, both on and off-premise.
  • Work with students, parents, and culinary team to meet dietary needs.
  • Assess customer satisfaction, respond to suggestions, and implement improvements.
  • Build cooperative relationships with key personnel and staff.
  • Respond to meal surveys, identify improvement areas, and monitor progress.
  • Model hospitality standards.
Financial Results
  • Assist in developing and managing annual budgets.
  • Control labor and food costs, making adjustments as needed.
  • Purchase food within budget guidelines.
  • Prepare and review menu and food cost reports.
  • Monitor portions and waste to control costs.
Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of leadership experience, including 4 years in kitchen management, ideally in higher education or business dining.
  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in culinary arts or equivalent experience.
  • Proven leadership and team training skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Strong organizational, planning, and leadership skills.
  • Financial management skills, including labor and food cost control.
