Job summary

TIC - The Industrial Company in Abilene, TX is hiring an Equipment Operator Journeyman - Telehandler to operate power construction equipment, excavate, move and grade materials on road projects.

You will load, haul and dump materials, maintain equipment, and follow safety rules; candidates should have a high school diploma and be able to work outdoors, including overtime, nights and weekends.

Qualifications

• Must have strong working knowledge and abilities for the position.
• May require a high school diploma or equivalent with experience in the field.
• Must understand, follow and transmit written and oral instructions and communicate effectively with management/supervision.
• Proficient in safe and efficient use of electrical, hand, and power tools as well as layout and measurement tools.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of vehicles and heavy equipment to excavate, move and grade material.
• Load gravel, dirt and sand; smooth and grade roads; spread rock and gravel.
• Trench and construct ditches for culverts, water pipes, and sewer pipes; remove silt and debris.
• Check and maintain all fluid levels and lubrication on equipment.
• Instruct and train employees in safe operation of equipment and techniques.
• Inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify defects or errors.
• Estimate sizes, distances, and quantities; determine time, costs, resources or materials.
• Review subordinate work for contract compliance and take corrective action.
