Job summary

The Hotel at the University of Maryland is seeking a Conference Services Manager to serve as the main liaison with clients from contract signing through flawless execution. You will coordinate event logistics across departments and drive incremental revenue while upholding the Four Diamond standard.

Location is College Park, MD, and the role reports to the Director of Sales & Marketing. Requires hospitality experience, budget and contract acumen, and strong communication skills; flexible

Qualifications

• Previous experience in event planning, catering, or hospitality services required.
• Strong knowledge of hotel systems (e.g., Delphi, Opera, Social Tables) preferred.
• Mastery of Microsoft Office (Word, Email, Excel)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage budgets and understand contracts.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Business, or a related field preferred.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays based on business demand.

Responsibilities

• Acts as the primary liaison between the hotel and clients after group contracts are signed and guides programs from planning through execution.
• Develops and manages detailed event timelines covering F&B, AV, rooming lists, and logistics.
• Creates BEOs, diagrams, and event resumes; manages multiple groups and overlapping timelines with precision.
• Works cross-functionally with Sales, Accounting, Front Desk, Parking, Culinary, Banquets, AV, and Housekeeping; ensures alignment on event expectations and requests.
• Resolves challenges during planning and execution; maintains composure under pressure and adapts to last-minute changes.
• Ensures billing accuracy and thorough logistical checks; identifies up-sell opportunities in AV, décor, and other services.
• Represents the hotel brand professionally; maintains poise in high-pressure client interactions.
