Job summary

Montana State University in Bozeman is seeking an Event Technician to provide technical assistance for athletic events, concerts, and other campus productions on a 30-hour week, event-driven schedule. The role oversees and troubleshoots A/V equipment, lighting, scoreboards, and related gear, coordinates with vendors, and supports load-ins and rehearsals on site.

This is a classified hourly, .75 FTE, non-sponsorship eligible position with a non-exempt status; salary ranges from $21.50 to $25.00

Qualifications

• Experience in providing technical support for events on campus.
• Ability to troubleshoot technical issues during live events.
• Ability to train end-users on equipment and procedures.

General Statement

Sports Facilities is responsible for the management of MSU’s multi-building/multi-use high profile complexes – the 8,000 seat Brick Breeden Fieldhouse, Shroyer Gym, South Dome, the 17,700 seat Bobcat Stadium, and the Kagy/7th fields. These multi-purpose facilities meet the varied needs of the campus and the community. The department provides services for Athletics, Recreational Sports and Fitness and Intramurals, and Health and Human Development, as well as hosting many events/concerts that come to campus.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Oversees and assists in the management of all equipment and activities related to use of technology for events/concerts, MSU department meetings, athletic contests, etc.
  • Recommends and implements systems improvements and acquires new equipment.
  • Troubleshoots and solves technical issues during events and coordinates with the Technical Director on appropriate measures to ensure all problems have been resolved.
  • Maintains inventory control.
  • Conducts training as needed for end-users.
• Actively manages, maintains, and repairs departmental technical, A/V, scoreboards, lighting equipment, and other miscellaneous related equipment.
  • Works with vendors on repairs as needed.
  • Purchases new equipment in compliance with MSU’s procurement policies.
• Occasionally advances production of assigned concerts/events with the artists and their production teams (schedule load-ins, technical rehearsals, etc.)
