Job summary

University of Utah in Salt Lake City seeks a part-time concert hall technician to support stage management, lighting, audio and video for events. You will coordinate with front of house and serve as a building representative for performances, ensuring safety and smooth operation from setup to teardown.

Responsibilities include setting up for concerts, overseeing AV streaming, running light and sound equipment, assisting with projectors, and coordinating ushers.

Qualifications

• Two years of full time professional experience in technical theatrical skills or equivalency (one year of education can be substituted for two years of related work experience) required.

• Ready building for concert, event rehearsal, etc.
• Post-concert/event/rehearsal clean up of hall
• Respond to emergencies as necessary
• Runs light board for rehearsal and performance
• Prepares sound and runs soundboard for rehearsals and performance
• Climbs ladders, moves heavy equipment and instruments, and works with tools
• Coordinate ushers during events
• Inspects and maintains stage equipment and informs admin of damages and fees
• Set standard for calm behavior backstage
• Can stop a performance for safety and coordinate evacuation
• Pre-concert announcements
• Set up projector & screens as necessary

• This position has the authority to stop a performance in progress for issues of safety of the performers or the audience. Directly coordinate emergency and evacuation procedures.
