Job summary

City of Rockville seeks an Event Operations Supervisor to translate event concepts into operational plans for sites, logistics, staffing, equipment, and safety. You will oversee planning through post-event review and supervise two technicians, coordinating with Police, Fire, Public Works, and vendors.

The role requires strong organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple events and deadlines. Expect evenings, weekends, and holidays during peak seasons.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in event management, recreation, public administration, parks and recreation, business administration, or a related field.
• Five years of progressively responsible experience in special event operations, event production, or related field.

Responsibilities

• Lead the operational planning, coordination, and execution of Citywide special events, festivals, concerts, ceremonies, races, and other assigned programs.
• Develop and maintains comprehensive event operations plans, including site layouts, setup and breakdown schedules, equipment requirements, staffing assignments, work orders, and safety procedures.
• Direct and coordinate event site setup and breakdown; verify equipment, supplies, and safety measures are in place before events.
• Supervise staff and coordinate staffing and training to ensure clear assignments, safety procedures, and effective communication.
• Coordinate permits, safety, risk management, and regulatory requirements with Police, Fire and Rescue, Public Works, and other departments.
• Assist with development and monitoring of event budgets and procurement processes.
• Conduct post-event reviews to capture lessons learned and identify improvements for future events.
