Job summary

Biltmore is seeking an Event Operations - Work Crew member to assist with the setup, strike and support of weddings, corporate events and functions. You will report to the Crew Lead/ Event Supervisor and may drive company vehicles to complete delivery and installation tasks with little supervision.

This role involves loading and unloading equipment, keeping a clean workspace, and learning Tent Technician and Event Specialist duties.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is preferred, but not required.
• At least one year of prior experience working with event setup and logistics preferred.

Job Description The Event Operations - Work Crew - 2 will primarily be responsible for assisting with the setup/strike and support of events (weddings, corporate events & functions) and other activities. This position will report daily to the Crew Lead/Event Supervisor/Manager and will be expected to drive company vehicles to complete the delivery/pickup/installation of smaller tasks with little to no supervision. Other duties include being responsible for loading and unloading trucks, cleaning and repairing equipment, maintaining a clean and organized workspace. Other duties may include providing general assistance and support to the department, leadership, and the company as required. Staff is cross-trained to learn the Tent Technician and Event Specialist roles. This is focused on the Event Specialist crew. Event Specialist: Their primary focus shall be on the fit & finish of events. This includes, but is not limited to, power & lighting, drapes (swags, liners, reveal walls, leg wraps & drapes, etc.), setting to diagram, forced and controlled air (heaters ... blow-ins & freestanding, fans, HVAC, etc.), skirting/wrapping & carpeting of stages. The Fit & Finish team is responsible for ensuring a venue/event is "show ready". Tent Technician: Their primary focus shall be on the setup/strike of tents and the bulk items under tent, such as stage and dance floor.

Essential Job Duties

• Capable of installing express/high peak/pop up style tents without supervision and supporting the team with larger installations.
• Properly and safely operate a box truck and pull a trailer as needed. Skilled in spotting other drivers/operators with the proper use of hand signals.
• Provide friendly, professional service to internal customers and guest.
• Load and unload tables, chairs, and other event/party rental items.
• Setup rental equipment and test/ensure quality matches company expectations upon arrival. Must be able to understand and execute direction given from a pull sheet, email, phone, etc.
• Rigging items that are 25lbs and under such as small chandeliers, bistro lighting, and other decor.
• Running and connecting power requirements up to 20 amps.
• Safely operating a warehouse forklift, scissor lift and any other equipment deemed necessary and fitting for their level and role.

• High school diploma or equivalent GED is preferred, but not required.
• At least one (1) year of prior experience working with event set up and logistics preferred.
• Demonstrated commitment to providing world class internal/external guest service.
• Solid interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills; must be able to convey information clearly and concisely.
• Excellent attention to detail with focus on quality, service, and safety.
• Strong time management and organizational skills; can multi-task and adapt as required.
• Ability to take direction and understand and execute instructions successfully.
• Proactive, and exercises good judgment; can troubleshoot as needed.
• Can operate effectively in an intense and dynamic guest service environment, and respond/interact with guests and vendors in a manner consistent with Biltmore standards.
• Must have a valid driver's license and be at least 19 years of age.
• Leads by example and provides clear direction to others.
• Basic math skills are required.

Physical Requirments

• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and carry up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds on a regular basis with assistance.
• Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time.
• Ability to climb, and work from, ladders, lifts, stairs, and/or scaffolding.
• Ability to reach overhead, bend and squat/kneel often.
• Ability to work effectively (indoors & outdoors) with exposure to dust, dirt, foul odors, extreme temperatures and/or weather conditions, using the proper safety and protective equipment.
• Must be able to work for extended periods of time from elevated heights.
