Job summary

The UC Berkeley Library is hiring an Evening and Weekend Work Lead to supervise student library employees and support access services during evening and weekend hours. You will perform circulation tasks, assist with stacks maintenance, and help patrons use the online catalog and public-use scanners and printers.

Qualifications

• Strong oral and written English communication.
• Familiarity with online library catalogs.
• Experience working in an academic team setting.

Responsibilities

• Circulation and reserves: check materials in/out, renewals, holds, searches; assist with e-reserves; instruct on online catalog and public scanners/printers; handle general inquiries and policy questions.
• Stacks management: sorting, shelving, shelf-reading, shifting; end-of-shift sweeps; locate missing material.
• Lead student workers: track attendance, coordinate workflows, provide feedback to supervisor, assist training.
• Ensure safety and security: be first contact for emergencies or facilities issues; coordinate with staff.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
