Departmental Overview
The UC Berkeley Library is an internationally renowned teaching and research facility at one of the nation's premier public universities. A highly diverse and intellectually rich environment, Berkeley serves a campus community of 33,000 undergraduate students, over 12,000 graduate students, and 1,500 faculty. With a collection of more than 13 million volumes and a collections budget of over $15 million, the Library offers extensive collections in all formats and robust services to connect users with those collections and build their related research skills.
Position Summary
The Evening and Weekend Work Lead will lead student library employees providing all access services offered during evening and weekend hours, as well as performing stacks maintenance. Incumbent may also assist in training student employees.
The incumbent will also provide circulation services, checking out material, placing holds or searches on material, submitting paging requests to SLF; and instructional services, assisting patrons in the use of the online catalog and public-use scanners and printers, fielding reference questions, informational questions, and complaints.
As the sole library career staff present during evening and weekend hours, the incumbent will also serve as initial contact in case of facilities issues or emergency situations.

This range takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions, including but not limited to experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, analysis of internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be offered a salary at or near the top of the range for a position. Salary offers are determined based on final candidate qualifications and experience.
The budgeted hourly range that the University reasonably expects to pay for this position is $28.26 (Step 8) - $29.50 (Step 10).
