Job summary

LaGrange College seeks a Library Assistant to support the Frank & Laura Lewis Library. Responsibilities include processing supplies, books, and equipment; maintaining vendor records; and assisting patrons with locating materials and using library resources.

The role requires an Associate’s degree (or equivalent) and 1 year of related experience, preferably in a library, museum, or archives, with strong organizational and customer service skills. Schedule includes Sunday–Thursday, 2pm–11pm.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree or equivalent required; 1 year related experience, preferably in a library, museum, or archives.

Responsibilities

• Opening and closing library on scheduled evenings and weekends.
• Answers routine directional and information questions by phone or in person; refers to librarian as needed for the purpose of helping customers.
• Assists users in locating desired materials and refers them to appropriate resources for specialized requests for the purpose of meeting their needs.
• Checks library materials in and out for the purpose of controlling the inventory.
• Reads shelves on a regular basis for the purpose of keeping materials in correct order.
• Shelves library materials for the purpose of maintaining access to the collection.
• Acts as backup for technology support and reservation setup.
