Job summary

City of Frisco Library invites applications for a Library Assistant to support customer service, organization of materials, and program development across Adult, Material, and Youth Services.

The role involves helping patrons, maintaining databases, creating library displays, and training volunteers. A Bachelor’s degree with library experience is preferred; Spanish skills are a plus. Evening/weekend hours may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree and one year of library experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preference may be given to applicants proficient in Spanish.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screen, criminal background, and MVR check.
• Must possess valid State of Texas Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Provides high level of customer service to the public, subordinates, associates, and supervisors.
• Prepares Library displays.
• Assists customers with finding library materials.
• Assists customers with the use of library resources.
• Creates, develops, promotes, and implements programs and activities for specific division.
• Enters information, maintains, updates, researches, and corrects errors in databases.
• Assist with recruitment, training, and scheduling of volunteers.
• Responds to requests for reference information from library customers.
• Recommends books and audio/visual materials to customers related to area of assignment.
• Receive and process new materials or the collection.
• Perform collection maintenance tasks.
• Transition new books to standard locations.
• Update wayfinding resources.
