Job summary

Midland College is seeking a part-time Library Assistant to support the reference librarians in the circulation area. You will assist students, faculty, staff, and the public with discovery, access to digital and physical resources, and use of computing and printing equipment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Customer service experience.
• Good communication skills in verbal, digital, and written form.
• Knowledge of general office equipment, including computers and printers.
• Knowledge of software programs, including the Microsoft Office Suite and web browsers.
• General internet experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level research and circulation assistance.
• Demonstrate how to access and utilize library resources.
• Provide general computer assistance.
• Collect usage and interaction data for trend tracking and library reporting.
• Refer patrons to other staff and departments when appropriate.
• Maintain and troubleshoot computers, printers, and other office equipment, including refilling supplies, resolving minor problems, and reporting issues.
• Maintain an orderly environment, including reshelving books, rearranging furniture, and spot cleaning.
• Monitor supply levels and request new stock in sufficient time for resupply.
