Job summary

The Livingston Library is seeking a part-time Library Assistant for our Patron Services department. The role focuses on delivering excellent customer service to a diverse community, with duties spanning inquiries, circulation, program registration, and readers’ advisory.

A high school diploma and basic library experience are preferred. The position requires 19 hours per week, including evening shifts on Wednesdays and one weekend per month, with pro-rated leave and a background check.

Qualifications

• Excellent customer service and communication with the public.
• Strong computer skills and basic trouble-shooting ability.
• Willingness to assist with a variety of clerical tasks and library operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist patrons with inquiries, account checks, program registration, readers’ advisory, and directions.
• Check materials in and out, answer phones, and provide information on library services.
• Shelving and shelf reading of materials on a daily basis.
• Collaborate with team, accept input, and help colleagues as needed.
• Perform basic computer troubleshooting including copier, printing, and faxing.
• Other duties as needed.
