Job summary

Penn State Harrisburg's Madlyn L. Hanes Library seeks a part-time Access Services worker to serve students, faculty, staff, and community members in the evening and on weekends. The role involves frontline help, circulation tasks, and policy guidance within a collaborative campus environment.

The position offers 21 hours per week with specific two weekday blocks and weekend hours, with summer adjustments to hours. Salary is $15.00 per hour, and background checks are required.

Qualifications

• Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with others in an inclusive and respectful manner.
• Ability to follow directions and maintain a schedule.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Familiarity with information technology (preferred).
• Prior experience in a library, customer service, retail, or hospitality setting (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Provide frontline customer service.
• Answer directional, informational, and basic reference questions in person and by telephone.
• Circulate library materials and technology.
• Explain library policies and procedures to patrons.
• Provide information about group study rooms and assist with reservations.
• Collaborate with other departments to provide additional services.
