Job summary

YMCA of Greater Waukesha County is seeking a Swim Instructor at Tri County YMCA - Menomonee Falls, WI. Part-time, with a salary range of $16.00–$17.00 per hour. The role involves leading swimming classes, ensuring safety, and promoting the YMCA values in every session.

You will teach according to the YMCA USA program, motivate swimmers, and communicate progress to parents. Must pass a swim test, hold First-Aid and CPR certifications, and be at least 15 years old.

Qualifications

• Must take and pass an advanced swimming test.
• Must have a current state approved First-Aid certification and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
• Ability to exercise mature judgment and ensure safety of participants.
• Must effectively communicate information on YMCA programs to members and participants.
• Minimum age for this position is 15; lifeguard certification required for applicants aged 15.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, nurturing and genuine environment for members and guests.
• Conduct swim classes in accordance with the YMCA’s program while maximizing participation.
• Communicate student progress to participants and/or their parents throughout the session.
• Maintain a positive and responsible attitude and demeanor at all times.
• Work scheduled shifts including weekend shifts and arrange substitutes as approved.
