Job summary

YMCA of Greater Waukesha County in Mukwonago, WI is seeking a part-time Swim Instructor to provide direct leadership, instruction, and a safe, welcoming aquatic environment for students in swimming classes.

Under the direction of the Aquatics Director, you will teach per the YMCA Swimming Lesson Program, communicate progress to families, participate in trainings, and uphold the YMCA core values while working weekend shifts and collaborating with staff.

Qualifications

• Must pass an advanced swimming test.
• Current First-Aid certification and CPR for the Professional Rescuer.
• Ability to exercise mature judgment and safety-consciousness.
• Ability to effectively communicate YMCA programs to members and participants.
• Observant and safety-conscious.
• Minimum age 15; lifeguard certification required for applicants age 15.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming, nurturing and genuine environment for all members and guests.
• Exercise sound judgment and safety in all situations.
• Develop rapport with members, participants and staff.
• Work collaboratively as part of a team.
• Lead swim classes per YMCA Swimming Lesson Program with enthusiasm.
• Motivate participants in self-awareness and confidence through swimming.
• Complete class paperwork as required by supervisor.
• Communicate student progress to participants and parents.
