Job summary

Stormont Vail Health is seeking an OR Assistant for the Surgery Main OR in Topeka. The role supports the care delivery team across Pre-op, OR, PACU, EP Lab, Hybrid OR, and related labs under RN supervision.

You'll assist with turnover, sterile packing, patient transport, and intra-department coordination to ensure safe, efficient procedures. The position requires CNA or related experience with strong reading comprehension of safety and procedure manuals, plus the ability to lift and assist with

Qualifications

• Certified nursing aide or related experience.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Strong attention to detail and patient safety during transport and turnover.

Responsibilities

• Set up oxygen delivery and vital sign monitors for patient care during transport.
• Transport patients using carts or beds between departments and verify patient location.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in OR areas and prepare requisitions for supplies.
• Assist with turnover between procedures and follow sterile technique as directed by RN.
• Support patient positioning, surgical prep, and coordination with OR staff.
• Operate Vocera and communicate patient information promptly to staff.
