Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a custodial worker to maintain cleanliness of school buildings and grounds. Tasks include cleaning cafeterias, classrooms, bathrooms, and common areas; setting up spaces for events; and securing doors after the workday. Training on cleaning tools and safety provided; GED or high school required with preference for a diploma.

Hours typically 11:00 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with full-time or part-time options.

Qualifications

• GED or some high school required.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• Ability to read and understand English.

Responsibilities

• Clean the cafeteria after lunch, mop floors and realign chairs.
• Pick up paper and trash in bathrooms and hallways; clean spills.
• Sweep, mop, dust rooms and set up spaces for the next day.
• Set up for PTA, special events, and meetings.
• Secure classrooms and exterior doors at the end of the day.
• Wash windows, chalkboards and desks; assist with classrooms as needed.
• Perform related custodial duties as required.
