Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking an experienced custodian to maintain cleanliness of school facilities and supervise staff as needed. The role involves securing the building, cleaning classrooms, bathrooms, gyms, and common areas, and replacing lights daily.

Training will be provided on cleaning equipment and safety protocols. The position is full-time with standard hours from mid-August to mid-June, Monday through Friday, 2:00 pm–10:30 pm, at the Virginia Beach, VA campuses.

Qualifications

• GED or some high school required.
• Preferred: high school diploma and custodial experience.
• Experience leading other custodians in a school setting.
• Training provided on cleaning tools and safety.

Responsibilities

• Perform intermediate custodial work to maintain cleanliness of classrooms and facilities.
• Secure building and supervise custodial staff as needed.
• Replace lights and maintain dispensers daily.
• Assist when other staff are out.
• Set up and clean chairs and areas after activities.
• Follow safety protocols and reporting to principal.
