Job summary

Harford County Public Schools seeks a Custodian I for Edgewood High School on Shift 2. This is a full-time, twelve-month position focused on cleaning, upkeep of buildings, grounds, and equipment. Starting salary range is $35,602 to $49,706 with a comprehensive benefits package.

Essential duties include cleaning floors, trash disposal, lifting up to 50 pounds, snow removal, and basic maintenance. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and be able to meet physical requirements for

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum ninth grade education required with testing if no diploma.
• One year of custodial/related experience preferred.
• Physically able to perform duties including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.
• May require valid driver’s license to perform duties.

Responsibilities

• Maintains cleanliness of floors, walls, and fixtures in classrooms and offices.
• Operates janitorial equipment and supplies for cleaning tasks.
• Disposes of trash and maintains storage areas.
• Moves furniture and equipment as needed, up to 50 pounds.
• Assists in snow removal and basic maintenance as directed.
• Responds to emergencies and other related duties as assigned.

Education

High school diploma or GED

Ninth grade education

One year custodial experience

Physically able (lift up to 50 lbs)

Driver’s license
