Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is seeking a Custodian I for Edgewood Middle School (Shift 2). The role includes routine cleaning, maintenance of facilities, and operation of custodial equipment to keep classrooms, offices, and common areas in good condition.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED (ninth grade education acceptable), with about one year of custodial experience preferred. The work supports a safe, clean environment for students and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum ninth grade education required.
• One year of custodial or related experience preferred.
• Physically able to perform essential duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders.
• May be required to hold and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Sweep and clean floors in classrooms, offices, corridors and other areas.
• Use custodial equipment such as mops, vacuums, buffers and scrubbing machines.
• Collect and dispose of trash and unload supplies to storage areas.
• Move furniture and heavy items up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Maintain lavatories, wash basins and windows, and assist with snow removal and lawn care.
• Respond to emergency situations and perform other duties as assigned.
