Job summary

Harford County Public Schools is hiring a Custodian I – Shift 2 at Edgewood High School to perform routine cleaning, upkeep of buildings, grounds and equipment. This full-time, twelve-month AFSCME position has a starting salary of $35,602 and a maximum earnings potential of $49,706, with comprehensive benefits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Minimum ninth grade education required (ability to read, understand, and apply written instructions).
• One year of custodial/related experience preferred.
• Must be physically able to perform essential duties, including lifting up to 50 pounds and climbing ladders; use of lifts/scaffolding may be required.
• Possession of a valid driver’s license may be required.

Responsibilities

• Performs routine cleaning, maintenance and upkeep of buildings, grounds and equipment.
• Operates custodial equipment and supplies (brooms, mops, scrubbers, vacuums, buffers, etc.).
• Collects and disposes of trash and manages supplies stock and storage.
• Moves furniture and equipment as needed; assists in snow removal and lawn maintenance.
• Responds to emergency situations and performs other duties as assigned.
