Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking a custodian for the afternoon/evening shift. Responsibilities include cleaning cafeterias, classrooms, bathrooms, hallways and common areas; setting up for PTA and special events; and ensuring doors are secured at day end. Training in cleaning tools and safety is provided.

The role requires basic reading in English and the ability to follow simple instructions. GED or some high school is required; a high school diploma and custodial experience are

Qualifications

• GED or equivalent high school experience is required.
• High School Diploma preferred.
• Some custodial experience preferred.

Responsabilités

• Clean cafeteria after each lunch bell, clean tables, realign chairs, mop cafeteria.
• Pick-up paper and trash in bathrooms and hallways, clean up spills such as vomit and other mistakes which come from children or other adults.
• Pick-up paper and trash around school and grounds.
• Dump trash in classrooms, clean chalkboards daily, sweep floors, dust rooms, and set up for next day.
• Wash desks for students and teachers, move desks and tables between locations (up or down stairs).
• Set up for PTA events in cafeteria, auditorium, library and reset for next day.
• Set up for special events and meetings.
• Vacuum floors, shampoo carpets, wash walls, fix lockers, clean rooms after school programs, wash windows and graffiti.
• Mop bathrooms, mop and wax hallway and classroom floors.
• Secure and lock all classrooms and outside doors at end of day.
• Clean teaching staff lounge.
