Job summary

Virginia Beach City Public Schools is seeking responsible individuals for unskilled custodian work in caring for and cleaning school buildings, primarily part-time. Duties include cleaning cafeteria, classrooms, restrooms, floors, windows, and preparing spaces for activities after school and for PTA events.

Applicants should have GED or some high school and may have custodial experience; ability to follow simple directions and work with staff; basic reading and spoken English.

Qualifications

• Some knowledge of cleaning methods, materials and equipment.
• Ability to understand and follow simple oral and written directions.
• Basic reading and speaking/understanding English.

Responsibilities

• Clean cafeteria, classrooms, and restrooms; mop and dust fixtures.
• Set up spaces for PTA, meetings, and events; secure doors at day end.
• Pick up trash, clean chalkboards, and prepare rooms for the next day.
• Wash windows, fix minor equipment and ensure rooms are ready for use.
