Job summary

Summa Health System – Akron Campus is seeking an RN Assistant Nurse Manager to support RN Nurse Manager in maintaining safe, effective operations on a 24-hour basis. The role focuses on leadership, budgeting, and evidence-based practice within a 17-bed unit caring for cognitive and neurological conditions and post-trauma recovery.

The position requires a BSN, current Ohio license, 3 years of nursing experience with leadership, and may prefer a Master’s degree or clinical certification.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of clinical nursing experience and demonstrated leadership qualities.
• Effective performance of this role at Summa Health System requires core competencies in customer focus, teamwork, job knowledge, and resource management.
• Maintains and seeks new knowledge related to patient care issues, quality improvement and cost reduction.

Responsibilities

• Serves as a unit-based resource supporting the RN Nurse Manager in maintaining safe, effective operations.
• Plans and develops tactical short-, mid- and long-term goals to enhance unit operations.
• Guides, coaches, and evaluates the work performance of patient care staff in a designated area.
• Collaborates with other patient care departments to support patient care operations and services.
• Assists with unit budget plans and ROI calculations for initiatives.
• Develops evidence-based standards of practice and seeks improvement opportunities.
