Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Lab Support Tech I for part-time evenings in Massachusetts. You will collect blood samples, perform phlebotomy, and support specimen handling and computer systems. The role requires strong English communication and adherence to PPE and safety protocols.

Hours total 24 per week with a 3:30p-8:00p schedule on weekdays and some weekend coverage. A signing bonus may be available; interview confirms eligibility.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver’s license is required.
• Phlebotomy training or ASCP certification is preferred.
• Fluent English communication skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples using venipuncture across all ages.
• Receive and label specimens; prioritize STAT scenarios.
• Maintain a clean, stocked drawing station and restock supplies.
• Register courier-delivered specimens and troubleshoot printers.
• Operate hospital information systems and order tests accurately.
• Answer and transfer calls; ensure coverage for incoming calls.
• Perform capillary collection and PKU collections as needed.
• Adapt to workflow changes and provide shift reports.
• Support ER operations; maintain PPE compliance and pager readiness.
• Apply age-appropriate care and communication with patients.
