Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Milford, CT seeks a Lab Support Tech I to greet patients, collect blood samples, and assist with lab processing. You will use hospital information systems and perform phlebotomy procedures, including blood cultures, EKGs, and swabs, while keeping the drawing station organized.

Work is 2:30pm-11pm with a 40-hour workweek and non-exempt status. The role supports multiple lab tasks and requires strong communication and teamwork in a dynamic health system.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent and a valid driver's license.
• Phlebotomy training or ASCP certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples across age groups using venipuncture techniques.
• Receive and label specimens, transport and distribute per protocol.
• Maintain a clean, stocked drawing station and restock supplies.
• Register courier-delivered specimens and troubleshoot printers.
• Order tests accurately and communicate with departments as needed.
• Answer and transfer calls, ensuring coverage.
• Perform heel sticks and PKU collections as required.
• Support emergency room and general lab duties as assigned.
