Job summary

UMass Memorial Health in Milford, MA is seeking a Lab Support Tech I to greet patients, perform phlebotomy, and support specimen handling and testing. This role requires accuracy with sample collection, labeling, and computer systems.

You will work with the Laboratory team on specimen receiving, registration, and ER support, including ensuring proper PPE, inventory, and timely patient draws. A high school diploma and valid driver's license are required; ASCP preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid driver's license is required.
• Phlebotomy training is preferred.
• ASCP certification or eligibility preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may substitute.

Responsibilities

• Collect blood samples using venipuncture techniques across age groups.
• Label and prioritize specimens (STAT, STROKE, CSF) accurately.
• Maintain a clean, organized drawing station and restock supplies.
• Register courier-delivered specimens efficiently and troubleshoot printers.
• Order tests using hospital information systems and communicate with departments as needed.
• Answer calls courteously and provide coverage for incoming calls.
• Perform heel sticks and PKU collections with proper sample volume.
