Job summary

Geisinger Medical Laboratories in Scranton is seeking a phlebotomist for the evening shift. You will collect blood and other specimens in a clinical setting and support patient care.

Work with clinical counterparts and laboratory leaders to ensure accurate and timely specimen processing while adhering to CLSI guidelines. The role includes mentoring staff, participating in training, and contributing to continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• ASCP certification required for Phlebotomy.
• Phlebotomy experience at levels I–III or equivalent is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and skin punctures following CLSI guidelines.
• Identify patients, label, accession, and process specimens.
• Work across Acute, Post-acute, Clinic, and Field Service areas as needed.
• Maintain specimen acceptability and reject criteria when not met.
• Document specimen data and use Geisinger applications.
• Mentor students and new employees and support ASCP certification training.
• Participate in continuous improvement activities including root cause analyses.
• Carry out inventory management as directed by site or regional lead.
• Comply with organizational policies and safety standards.
