Geisinger Community Medical Center in Scranton, Pennsylvania, is seeking a Laboratory Assistant to join our Geisinger Medical Laboratories in a nights shift. You will accession, process, and prepare specimens for testing in a state-of-the-art clinical lab environment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or GED required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• ASCP MLA certification may be required or preferred.
• Experience in a clinical laboratory setting is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Process patient specimens for testing according to department protocols.
• Safely handle potentially infectious specimens per regulatory standards.
• Match order information with specimen data to ensure patient safety.
• Prepare specimens (centrifugation, labeling) and deliver to testing areas.
• Maintain LIS and computer logs, quality control, and inventory.
• Assist with packaging and referral of specimens following DOT rules.
