Job summary

Prime Healthcare St Francis Hospital in Evanston, IL, seeks a per diem evening Lab Tech to perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests under CLIA guidelines. The candidate should hold an ASCP certification or equivalent, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and a state license where required; hospital lab experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• ASCP certification or equivalent is preferred.
• 1 year hospital laboratory experience preferred.
• Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology.
• Current and valid state license if required by state.
• Experience with blood bank, chemistry and hematology.

Responsibilities

• Perform waived, moderate, or highly complex tests per CLIA and CFR requirements.
• Adhere to procedures for collection, processing, analysis, and reporting of results.
• Follow quality control policies and document corrective actions.
• Identify problems affecting test performance and notify supervisor or director.
• May be Lead Tech in absence of supervisor and assist LIS/POCT as needed.

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in chemical, physical, biological health science or Medical Laboratory Technology from an accredited institution, or other educational requirements stated in CLIA (42 CFR 493.1423)

ASCP certification, or equivalent, preferred.

Current and Valid State License if the laboratory is located in a state where required.

One year hospital laboratory work experience preferred, but not required.
