Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is hiring a Patient & Equipment Transporter to support patient movement throughout the hospital and assist nursing staff with transfers. The role requires careful ID verification, patient comfort, and effective handoffs between units.

Applicants should have a high school diploma or equivalent, BLS certification within 6 months, and good English skills. The position is on-site in Worcester with evening shifts and potential signing bonus, depending on interview assessments.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification within 6 months of hire.
• Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
• Good interpersonal skills and a customer service orientation.
• Six months’ hospital experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort ambulatory patients by wheelchair, stretcher or bed; verify IDs and sign Safe Transport forms.
• Assist nursing staff with movement/positioning using lift devices and perform lateral transfers with precautions.
• Deliver stretchers, beds, cribs and wheels; deep-clean transport equipment periodically.
• Transport specimens and blood products to Lab/Blood Bank following infection control guidelines.
• Deliver medical records, pharmaceuticals, X-ray films and other items as needed.
