Job summary

Northwell Health in Bay Shore, NY is seeking a part-time Patient Registration Clerk to support admissions and billing processes. You will conduct interviews to gather demographics and insurance information, enter data into the registration system, verify financial details, obtain signatures, and guide patients through hospital rules and policies.

Evening shift 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, part-time schedule with location at 301 East Main Street, Bay Shore.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Prior customer service experience is required.
• Data entry skills (80 keystrokes per minute) are required.
• Must pass training program within normal probationary period.
• Ability to communicate well with patients and families.

Responsibilities

• Conducts interviews to obtain demographics and insurance information and enters data into the registration system.
• Contacts insurance carriers or references databases to obtain information for billing; re-verifies insurance of recurring patients.
• Perform collection duties including negotiating payment arrangements for uninsured patients and resolving open balances.
• Inform patient of financial obligations and collect outstanding amounts and deposits.
• Obtain signatures on medical, legal and financial forms and prepare required documents for nursing units.
• Admit patients and provide information on hospital policies and regulations.
