Job summary

Northwell Health’s Sharon Hospital is hiring a Part-Time Patient Access Clerk to support scheduling, registration, and insurance verification. You will manage patient flow, collect demographic data, and determine payment sources, ensuring a smooth, accurate registration experience for patients.

Working hours include evenings and weekends, with standard shifts 5:00pm-9:00pm and 20 hours weekly. Prior experience in patient access and NAHAM certification within one year are desirable.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma with minimum of 2 years job related experience.
• Associate degree with 6 months job-related experience - Preferred.
• Minimum Experience of 1 year preferred in a job-related experience.
• Basic MS Word & MS Excel.
• NAHAM certification within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Greeting patients and/or physicians, staff, coworkers in a professional manner; check-in and route to correct location.
• Responds to calls and provides information; aims to reduce abandoned calls and improve wait times.
• Searches for patients in the system to maintain EMPI integrity and accurate identification.
• Schedules appointments following protocols; may contact patients for missing information.
• Entering accurate demographic and financial data to secure payment for services.
• Verify insurance eligibility and obtain necessary payor information and authorization.
• Provide service estimates and actively solicit patient liability.
• Enter orders when necessary and comply with HIPAA and related policies.
• Obtain required signatures and maintain compliance with department procedures.
