Job summary

Advocate Health is seeking a part-time Patient Service Representative to register patients, verify insurance, and collect payments in a Fast-paced Revenue Cycle department at Floyd Medical Center GA Arrival Emergency Department.

The role requires strong communication, high attention to detail, and proficiency with EPIC EMR and Microsoft Office. 20 hours/week with 4pm-2:30am shifts on a rotating schedule.

Qualifications

• High School Graduate.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient privacy.
• Ability to work under pressure in a high-volume setting.

Responsibilities

• Creates the initial electronic health record foundation for the patient’s medical record. Ensures unique patient identifiers to prevent safety and billing issues.
• Checks in and registers patients; collects demographics, insurance, and payment information; explains costs.
• Explains insurance basics and helps patients understand obligations; refers to Financial Advocates when needed.
• Adheres to HIPAA, EMTALA, and other regulations; obtains required signatures from patients or guarantors.
• Provides clear instructions to patients about test preparations, arrival times, and directions to the facility.
