Job summary

MultiCare’s Off Campus Emergency Departments seek a Patient Access Technician to welcome patients and support accurate admissions and registrations. The role works with financial and clinical teams to create a smooth patient experience in a fast-paced ED setting.

Requirements include a health vocational program or related education, with a preference for 1 year in admitting, billing, or registration or customer service experience. Flexible scheduling is offered in a community-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Graduate with health vocational training or related field.
• One year of admitting, billing, registration or customer service experience preferred.
• Understanding of admissions and registration processes is helpful.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients at an Off-Campus Emergency Department.
• Ensure complete and accurate admissions/registrations per policy and regulations.
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process admissions, including arm banding and forms.
• Pre-admit scheduled inpatients, outpatients and ambulatory patients for smooth registration.
• Enter direct admit information and notify other areas via the computer system.
• Conduct interviews to gather demographics, insurance and third‑party information; verify eligibility and arrange financial assistance if needed.

Education

Graduate of health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance or medical general, required
