Job summary

MultiCare Health System is seeking a Patient Access Technician for our Off-Campus Emergency Departments in Washington. This part-time equivalent role (FTE .75) works in a night shift with 12-hour schedules to welcome patients and support admissions.

You will verify demographics, eligibility, and insurance while coordinating with financial and clinical teams to create a smooth registration experience for patients and their families.

Qualifications

• Graduate of health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance or medical general, required
• One year of admitting, billing, registration or customer service experience may be considered in lieu of education

Responsibilities

• Assure complete and accurate patient admissions/registrations according to policy and regulatory requirements
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments and process admissions, including arm banding and forms
• Pre-admit scheduled inpatient, outpatients and ambulatory patients for smooth admission/registration
• Obtain direct admit information and enter a reservation in the system to notify other areas
• Conduct bedside or telephone interviews to collect demographic, insurance and third party liability information
• Perform eligibility verification and resolve discrepancies; determine need for financial assistance and refer to Financial Counselor when needed
