Job summary

MultiCare Health System, Inc. is seeking a Per Diem Patient Access Technician for Union Gap OCED in Yakima, WA.

The role welcomes patients, performs admissions/registrations, verifies insurance and collects demographic data to support smooth, compliant patient flow. The position requires graduation from a health vocational program or related training, with at least one year in admitting, billing or care coordination; shifts are 12 hours with variable schedule, part-time tempo.

Qualifications

• Graduate of health vocational program such as patient access, medical assistance, medical billing and insurance or medical general, required.
• One year of admitting, billing, registration or customer service experience may be considered in lieu of education.

Responsibilities

• Welcome patients at the off-campus emergency department and ensure accurate admissions/registrations per policy and regulatory requirements.
• Obtain inpatient bed assignments, process admissions, arm banding, and necessary forms.
• Pre-admit all scheduled inpatients/outpatients to facilitate smooth admission/registration.
• Enter direct admit information and notify other areas as needed.
• Conduct bedside or telephone interviews to collect demographic, insurance, and third-party information.
• Perform eligibility verification and resolve discrepancies; determine need for financial assistance and refer to Financial Counselor when needed.
