Job summary

MercyOne Northeast Iowa is seeking a Part-time Registration Clerk for the Evening Shift at MercyOne Waterloo Medical Center. You will gather patient demographics, insurance information, and signatures, pre-register tests, and coordinate patient flow during the registration process.

Responsibilities include answering phones, assigning beds, communicating with the house supervisor, and ensuring HIPAA and EMTALA compliance while delivering courteous, patient-centered service in a busy hospital

Qualifications

• Completion of Medical Secretary program or other general office training preferred.
• One-year medical office experience (scheduling, insurance, or registration) preferred.
• Hospital experience and/or medical terminology preferred.
• Strong computer skills, Windows experience; familiarity with database/mainframe information systems.

Responsibilities

• Gathers patient demographic and financial information and obtains signatures.
• Answers telephone, bed assignments, stat cleans ordered and communicates to house supervisor.
• Informs patient of hospital regulations, secures armband and obtains signatures on documents.
• Makes determinations regarding need for hospital issued ABN waiver.
• Assures patient escorted to assigned area and meets/greets patients during registration.
