Job summary

MercyOne North Iowa Medical Center is seeking a Part-time Patient Access specialist to register patients, verify insurance, and collect payments. The role supports inpatient and outpatient settings with emphasis on accuracy and customer service.

Strong communication, data entry, and basic computer skills are essential. A high school diploma is required, with HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA certification encouraged within the first year.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• HFMA CRCR or NAHAM CHAA within 12 months of hire.
• Minimum 1 year of customer service experience; patient access experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Validate and enter demographic, clinical, financial and insurance information.
• Register patients in various settings and for multiple patient types.
• Inform patients of liabilities and collect co-pays, deductibles, and balances at check-in.
• Document payments in the patient accounting system and provide receipts.
• Obtain physician orders and collect required signatures.
